Excavator: No job is too big for the Volvo excavator. The 30,000 lbs machine has the size and power to move boulders, knock down large trees, remove the stumps and dig at a rapid rate. It has a hydraulic thumb and a quick-tach tilting grading bucket. This machine is ideal for all site work, land clearing and earth moving on a large scale.
Mini Excavators: Mini excavator are machine with large power. The size of the machines makes them an excellent machine for working around houses and in other tight places, but has the power to dig trenches and large holes. The tilting grading bucket and grading blade makes final grading easy. With the hydraulic thumb the Kubota can make quick work of brush and small tree clearing, also its great for setting rocks and small boulders.
Other Heavy Equipment & Trucks: Bates Contracting has a wide array of machines for every task. A Bulldozer for grading and heavy earth moving. Large dump trucks and a dump trailer for "over the road" material moving. Large and small tractors for loading and mowing.

Skid Steers: Tracked Skid Steers may be the most versatile machines in the fleet. The multiple buckets make the machine great for grading and earth moving long distances. The vibratory roller can compact driveways so they wont erode or track out. There are also forest attachments that turn the skid steer into a great land clearing machine. The Forestry Mower is great for mowing heavy brush and small trees.

As we carry our grandfather's and father's drive and passion of hard work, we have continued to evolve our business into an excavating, landscaping, septic work, and contracting business. Adam & Lincoln Bates are brothers who have been working in this field for 15 years, earning their experiences working with their father. Adam currently holds his Connecticut Subsurface Sewage Installer License (Septic Systems).

The Bates family has been in excavating dating back to our grandfather, John Bates, who was using ox and a box scraper in the 1930s in Falls Village, CT. Our father, John D. Bates, started a logging business in the 1960s and eventually evolved into excavating, until his recent retirement.
